Frequently Asked Questions

I lost my license key. What can I do?

No problem! Please go the lost license form to retrieve it.

Ever since New Year, quote updates from Google Finance appeared to have ceased. What is wrong?

Due to a change-of-year bug, sometimes the latest quote time would be set to a future date (Dec 30 2012). Investoscope then, seeing that the latest trade time from the feed is before the current latest trade time in Investoscope, doesn't update the prices.

The solution is to clear the latest trade time. The easiest way to do this, is to first select all instruments, and then select the "latest trade" field (it should say "Multiple Values") in the sidebar and type something and delete it again and then the tab key.

I have just purchased Investoscope from the App Store, but I haven't receieved a license key. What gives?

The App Store edition of Investoscope does not require a license key. You can verify that you are indeed running the App Store edition by choosing "About Investoscope" from the "Investoscope" menu. It should say "App Store Edition" below the version number.

If you are not running the App Store edition, then please move your current copy of Investoscope to Trash and reinstall it through the App Store. You do this by first selecting the "Purchased" pane in the App Store and then click the "Install" button next to Investoscope.

I'm trying to enter a sell transaction, but it is grayed out in the Transactions menu. What do I do?

In order to enter a sell (or a short cover) transaction, you must first select the position in the "Holdings" tab of the portfolio (not a portfolio folder) containing the position. This will make the sell transaction become available.

I have multiple portfolios. Is it possible to get a combined view of them?

Yes, with portfolio folders you can get a combined view of multiple sub portfolios. The only restriction is that each sub portfolio (or folder) of a portfolio folder must have the same base currency.

To create a portfolio folder, choose File > New > Portfolio Folder and give it a name. You can then drag your existing portfolios into the newly created portfolio folder.
